Book 5 The beginning

I was hoping to publish a book of only PinUp photography with my publisher Amherst Media. I felt it had all the challenges a portrait/fashion photographer could learn from, lighting, posing, wardrobe etc.... but after going back and forth with my publisher he felt there wasn't a big enough market for an educational book. To a certain extent he is probably right. To have a chance to make a profit selling a photo book you really need to reach a broad audience. As a struggling professional photographer I need to keep my eye on the prize. In addition I can incorporate my PinUP images into the book.

This book is a continuation of my last book " 5o lighting Set-ups for the Portrait Photographer." I will use a similar format of explaining the image as far as lighting, posing, wardrobe etc... The big difference is all the images will be current and shot digitally, taking advantage of the current technology, forever changing. I hope this book will be of great use to photographers trying to navigate a career as a portrait photographer in this very hostile market. One of my mantras to surviving as a commercial photographer is "publish or parish."

This is the first installment and as I begin the process of selecting and creating image for this book I will post new information. If you have any suggestions as to what you would like to see in this book let me know. My deadline is July of 2011. And so it begins....
